Samba Cloud uses the same account as samba-sync.com. Create the account on the website first. Samba does not register new users by itself.

You can open and save local .samba projects without signing in. Sign in when you need cloud projects, collaboration, or license features that require an account.

  1. Choose File -> Cloud -> Open Cloud Project…
  2. Confirm the cloud URL: https://cloud.samba-sync.com (unless your organisation hosts a different endpoint)
  3. Sign in with email and password, or use Sign in in browser
  4. Complete the browser / account flow if prompted, then return to Samba

Samba remembers the session. After a normal restart you usually stay signed in.

With no cloud project open, the status area typically shows something like:

Cloud: signed in (your name)

The File -> Cloud submenu can also show Signed in as … when a session is ready.

If you see Sign-in expired (or cloud Recent entries are greyed out):

  1. Open File -> Cloud -> Open Cloud Project… again
  2. Sign in once more
  3. Retry opening the cloud project or Recent entry

Your website account carries a license. That license is the ceiling for what Samba allows, even if someone invites you into a project with a higher role.

Type Local projects Cloud projects
Viewer Open and watch Open and watch; no edits
Standard Full edit and save Open and watch only (no Save to Cloud)
Pro Full edit and save Edit and Save to Cloud (project role still applies)

Examples:

  • A Viewer account cannot edit a cloud show even if invited as editor.
  • A Standard account can build shows locally, but cloud opens stay read-only for saves.
  • A Pro account can edit and save cloud projects when the project role also allows editing.

Upgrade or change the license on the website account, then sign in again in Samba so the desktop app picks up the new entitlement.
